Love a good cuppa? A good natter? Crafting? Perfect… escape your busy schedule and enjoy a couple of hours of ‘me-time’, allowing yourself to be absorbed in the pure pleasure that is crafting at Little Light Room events.
Designed to provide a taster of light therapy and a chance to unwind, these monthly free events are for anyone – whether you have heard of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) and Winter Blues or not.
In the spring and summer months, if the weather is fair then we’ll soak up the natural light, crafting outside. On cool and wet days and during autumn and winter, we can be found in a cafe in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK, working in front of bright lights provided by Lumie. Please refer to individual Little Light Room events for venue details and to book your places. You can also visit and ‘like’ the Facebook page to keep up-to-date. Watch this space for details of Little Light Room rolling out into other cities from 2017!
On the day of the event, feel free to bring your own craft – whatever you love to do, whether drawing, knitting, cross-stitch, beading, drawing… Or you can simply do some colouring or origami using the materials provided. Grab a drink and maybe even a sweet treat at the counter and join in!
The Little Light Room events were first piloted in November 2015, finally being brought to life after around eight years of being an idea in my head and a source of frustration that I had done nothing with something that I felt so passionate about! I wanted to create an event that de-mystifies light therapy and raises awareness of the importance of light in our lives, while also giving attendees that chance to switch off from their busy lives and have some ‘me-time’. The feedback from this first session was overwhelmingly positive:
“It has been great for finding quality time while around others – I absolutely loved this!”
“Lovely relaxed atmosphere. I found the talk about SAD very interesting and informative.”
“Really great event – fun and engaging… would happily make this a regular occurrence in my diary!”
“Nice atmosphere with opportunity to chat and do activities, good to have a small group as nice and personal.”
These events have limited spaces in order to keep a relaxing and friendly social atmosphere.
